Why You Must Have Amazon Reviews – And How To Get Them

Before anything else, let’s get to the ugly truth: there are a lot of fake reviews out there. There are quite a few companies and authors who write and post glowing reviews of their own product. It’s a scam, pure and simple and if you think it’s not widespread, think again. For instance, RK Ellory was recently caught writing fake reviews of his own books and (negative) reviews of competing titles, under a host of pseudonyms. While this will likely always be a problem to some extent, Amazon is currently working to implement procedures to reduce these kinds of fraudulent reviews. However, you can also get real, legitimate reviews for your product, book or whatever you’re selling on Amazon; you just have to make the effort to find reviewers. It’s easier than you might think. There are a lot of Amazon users who have bought (and possibly reviewed) similar products or books. All you have to do is to find these people and make them an offer – you’ll send them your book or product in exchange for their honest review. Chances are, many of these people will say yes and better still, their review will be credible to other Amazon users, since they’ve also reviewed similar items in the past. It’s pretty straightforward, it works and the following are exactly the steps you need to follow to make it work for you: 1. Come up with a way to track your results: You’ll have to keep track of who you’ve sent your book or product to and which of these people have responded; on average, about 25% of people you get in touch with will follow through and write a review. 25% isn’t a bad response rate at all and you don’t have to make yourself crazy keeping track of it all either – a simple spreadsheet will do just fine. 2. Search for reviewers: This is actually pretty easy; just start on your own product page and take a look at “Customer Also Bought Items By” and “Customers Who Viewed This Item Also Viewed” to see competing products. This gives you a highly targeted cross section of Amazon reviewers who are among the most likely to be interested in reviewing whatever it is that you’re selling. 3.
