Ruth Price is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Her books are entertaining, her characters are lovely people and I learn more about the Amish ways with each book. Amish Friendship Bread is no exception. It is a story of young men and women coming moving into adulthood and finding their soul mates and as always there is a twist. Sarah and Jebediah are fond of each other and want to begin courting. Always the gentleman and in keeping with the Amish ways Jebediah visits Sarah’s father and makes arrangements to visit Sarah’s home in order to assist her father with some repairs. Openly asking to court someone is not proper but visiting for other reasons – and subsequently courting one other at the same time is proper. And as per usual there is always a third person wanting to interfere. Waneta believes that she and Jebediah should be courting and is continually trying to get in between the young couple. I don’t want to ruin the rest of the story for others so I will leave it at that. I was also very to glad see that the author has included the recipe for Amish Friendship Bread at the end of the book and I am looking forward to trying this recipe and sharing the batter with my friends.

If you want to learn more about the Amish ways and if you want a story with many twists, then Amish Friendship Bread is just right for you. This is about young people growing up and looking for their soulmates, but of course, there is always someone who wants to interfere. The relationship between the the two sisters Fannie and Waneta was very interesting and compelling – great story overall.

Kindness is key!

I enjoyed this story about the young men and women in the Amish community. It really reminds me that they have similar problems to us Englishers. Even though Waneta’ s jealousy and behaviors were terrible. Sarah and others in her community demonstrated compassion and forgiveness towards her. It is difficult to be kind to someone who is jealous and angry towards you. Sarah was able to befriend Waneta with the encouragement of her mother and the love of God.

As always, Ruth captivates you in her books. I appreciate her writing, not only are her stories clean and respectful, they also come through with good morals. Friendship Bread is about reaching out to your neighbor in need, helping them even if they have been cold to you. There are a lot of twist and turns but it is always best to do good. She even includes a BONUS, the Friendship Bread recipe. She has become one of my favorite authors.

Enjoy Amish e-books

This e-book kept my interest all the way through. As reading it you were in the moment and always wanting to know what was around the corner. I know Amish e-books are fiction but learning about the Amish is so interesting. Also know that books usually have happy endings where in true life that may not be so but then fiction is also a dream where you can wish you were the main character. Did enjoy so much and love the recipe at the end of the book.

The detailed descriptions in this story immediately engaged me. I felt like the storyteller all about me. I could see, hear and smell everything as if it was real.

Love not returned

When love or even the desire for love is not returned, sometimes it brings out wrong thinking. A very well written story of what can happen when something like that happens and the one being rejected is not completely well mentally.

This is a good story which seems, at every corner, to draw you into the failings of the characters with a wish that you could help them. Even the “villain” is really a person in need of help! I enjoyed it very much.
