After Katie Fisher’s husband and young son are killed in a house fire, the young Amish widow returns to her parents’ home broken-hearted with her faith in shambles. Katie can never imagine herself marrying again. But when 31-year-old Amish widower, Joseph Lapp, comes to Katie’s district church service looking to hire an honest woman to help him take care of his three active, rambunctious children, Katie takes the plunge and accepts the position. Katie quickly finds herself falling in love with Joseph’s children, and though Katie and Joseph cannot spend time together unsupervised due to the strict tenants of their Ordnung, the widow and widower find themselves growing closer in spirit as well. But when a new tragedy threatens the fragile future Katie and Joseph have begun to build, will the couple have the faith to risk a second chance at love?

Simple

This book felt more like a short story instead of a full book. It was read quickly, in less than two days. The book ended just as it should have began to tell the real story of Katie’s second chance.

Enjoyable.

Lancaster County Second Chances was an enjoyable read. I don’t usually read books that are a part of a series. I prefer books that are stand alone, if I had know this was a series about the same people I would not have read it. More characters will be added but once I reach the end of a story I don’t like to have to get another book to finish. This would have been better as a full length novel with the other important characters add as the story develope. If you enjoy series then go ahead and read this first book as I know you will enjoy it.

Sometimes the circumstances that come into our lives are so tragic and so painful it’s hard to receive the comfort God promises us through the Holy Spirit, but He promises that joy will come in the morning; He will cause all of the tragedy to work for our good. Joseph and Katie’s story and others like It are good reminders for us as well as enjoyable ways to spend an afternoon.

I chose this story/novella because if its synopsis. The synopsis and description if the story drew me in and I felt compelled to read it. I felt like I was actually there in the story, living the experiences that lead female character Katie had lived through. I wan to read the remaining stories in this series. Well written Ms Price.

As a PA native, it is so wonderful to come across books that treat the Amish community with dignity. No, I’m not Amish, but I did grow just one county east of Lancaster. So wonderful to read these books!

Awesome book and hard to put down once you start reading.

I enjoyed this book so much. I like reading about the Amish community. When she had moved back home after losing her husband and son in a fire, she was devastated. She felt as if God had let her down. She met a man that had lost his wife and had 4 young children. She got a Jon taking care of his children and his home and after a while they fell in love. She had thought that God had forsaken until an act of nature happened and God had protected her and the children. This is a must read to find out what happens. Highly recommended.

This is my first book to read by Ruth Price, and I can hardly wait for more! I only read Christian books, and yet many of those are silly, foolish, or the atrocious spelling errors make me wonder why an author couldn’t take time for proofing? Your book 1 of the series was an amazing change . The characters, and their feelings, were so real-to-life that I was disappointed to reach the end. So glad to have a series to look forward to reading. Thank you!

The story is very intersting because i have always been fascinated by The Amish people. We have a small community of the Amish near the city I live in and I love to go to their bakery and store and buy bread and fried pies as well as pickles and fruit preserve
